Απάτη με δήθεν ημεηλ από τη YAHOO

και εκεί που σκεφ΄τομουν ότι είχα καιρό να γράψω για καμιά απάτη λόγω έλλειψης χρόνου, τσουπ στο ηλεκτρονικό ταχυδρομείο μου ένα ημεηλ απάτη. Τα απαράδεκτα ελληνικά θα πρέπει να χτυπήσουν καμπανάκια σε όσους το διαβάσουν, αλλά ποτέ δεν ξέρει κανείς:

Amazon and CC scam

Boingboing points to two different frauds. One on and one offline.

The first one, involves a point of sale terminal that is hacked to record the card's number and pin while faking a succesful transaction.




The second one, involves social engineering and scaming Amazon. Personaly I do not mind much scamming Amazon, as long as its customers remain safe, due to cheap (and wasteful) marketing techniques used by Amazon ie lighting deals.

So using order numbers and other info, the scammer is able to request a resend of undelivered items to a different address than the original buyer's.

Scams on EBAY ddr2 laptop memory modules

Buyers must always be cautious when buying stuff on EBAY, but today I found a new kind of scam.

They are selling ddr2 laptop memory modules tested and working but of unknown capacity. So my guess is that they put them on a laptop, run memtest in order to find out if they are ok but did not know how to check the capacity...
God damn!

Scam In freecycle!

New type of scam from our Nigerian friends.
I do not have all details yet, but
the scam goes as follows:
They post a valuable item to give away on freecyle, for example an Iphone 4 or 4S so you contact them cause its an excellent bait. (I mean who in their right mind would give away an working ipad instead of selling it, no matter how old it is)
They tell you that the person who has it was send away as a missionary in Africa (usually Lagos Nigeria) and they ask you to provide your details, (eg Address) to send you the item.

As the communication with the scammer is ongoing, I will post details as I receive them.

Στο http://aggeliopolis.gr/ καθώς και σε άλλες ελληνικές σελίδες με αγγελίες κυκλοφορούν απατεώνες που θέλουν να αγοράσουν πράγματα για να στείλουν στη Νιγηρία. ΕΙΝΑΙ ΑΠΑΤΕΩΝΕΣ. Αγνοείστε οτιδήποτε σχετικό με τη Νιγηρία. Ανεξάρτητα από τι σόι δικαιολογίες θα σας πουν, (ωκαιανογράφοι, ιεραπόστολοι, επιχειρηματίες σε ταξίδια) Μην μοιραστείτε τα στοιχεία σας μαζί τους και μην πέφτετε θύματα.
Οι απατεώνες επικοινωνούν μαζί σας στα αγγλικά και θέλουν να τους πείτε πόσο πουλάτε το αντικείμενο. Όταν τους πείτε την τιμή, θα σας πούνε να σας πληρώσουνε συνήθως με Paypal αλλά το email πληρωμής είναι ψεύτικο. Το θύμα όμως μπορεί να πεισθεί αφού δέχεται πιέσεις και απειλές ότι θα στείλουν το FBI ή την αστυνομία αν δεν αποστείλει το αντικείμενο. Ο απατεώνας όμως έχει και άλλον άσσο στο μανίκι. Με το ψεύτικο email στέλνει και καλά παραπάνω λεφτά από όσα ζητήσατε και ζητάει να του στείλετε το επιπλέον ποσό με western union.

Εναλλακτικά μπορεί να ζητήσει να πληρώσει με επιταγή. Η επιταγή κατατίθεται, το θύμα βλέπει το ποσό στον λογαριασμό του και ταχυδρομεί το προϊόν. Όμως η επιταγή είναι ακάλυπτη και όπως λένε στα αγγλικά παίρνει μερικές μέρες "to clear the payment" και όταν γίνει αυτό, τα χρήματα εξαφανίζονται από το λογαριασμό του θύματος. Το κόλπο με τα παραπάνω χρήματα ισχύει και εδώ.

Κανονικά επειδή αυτή η απάτη είναι τόσο διαδεδομένη τα ΕΛΤΑ αλλά και όλες οι άλλες ταχυδρομικές εταιρίες και εταιρίες κούριερ θα έπρεπε να έχουν εκπαιδεύσει τους υπαλλήλους να ενημερώνουν τυχών πελάτες που αποστέλουν αντικείμενα στη Νιγηρία για το ενδεχόμενο απάτης.
